Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)The Digital Communication instructional program prepares students to gather, process, and deliver news through a variety of print and online formats, including video, vlogs, weblogs (blogs), YouTube, digital/video news, school magazines and other traditional and new media platforms. Students will work with Adobe and other industry recognized software and apps.
INFC0322: DCE Digital Communication
Credits 0.5This course utilizes Diversified Cooperative Education (DCE) methodology, one teacher responsible for students within multiple program areas, to combine school-based and supervised work-based learning experiences related to the standards identified for the Digital Communication Program.
INFC 300/301: CTE/IGCSE Digital Communication I A/B
Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)In this course, the Cambridge International IGSCE Art & Design curriculum is used in tandem with the CTE Digital Communication program standards. This course combines the creative exploration of art and design with the practical skills of digital communication. Students will develop technical expertise in two- and three-dimensional media, including traditional and new technologies, while fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills in visual and tactile forms. They will also gain an in-depth understanding of news writing, editing, photojournalism, graphic design and media production, utilizing industry-standard tools and practices. Emphasizing personal expression, ethical considerations and professional standards, this program equips learners with lifelong skills and prepares them for advanced education or careers in art, design, and media industries.
INFC 302/303: CTE/AS Digital Communication II A/B
Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)Cambridge International AS & A Level Digital Media & Design curriculum is used in tandem with the CTE Digital Communication program standards to allow learners to explore a range of processes and techniques in digital media through flexible course design covering digital photography, moving image, games design and mobile and multimedia applications and using a variety of print and online formats, including newspapers, magazines, journals, weblogs, and other traditional and new media platforms. This course: develops an awareness of the world of digital media and design, develops learners’ creative processes and their ability to critically evaluate their work, encourages learners to combine innovative approaches and techniques to solve problems creatively, expands learners’ knowledge of digital media by exploring different designers, processes and concepts, prepares learners for further study and to work in a collaborative industry. Students develop leadership, social, civic, and career skills through participation in either SkillsUSA or FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and may be prepared for entry-level once they become a Program Completer. This course is the first of two in the CTE program. Completing both courses is required to become a CTE program completer which earns the student a graduation cord. This course is also recommended for students seeking the AICE diploma through Cambridge.
INFC 304/305: CTE/A Digital Communication II A/B
Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)Cambridge International AS & A Level Digital Media & Design curriculum is used in tandem with the CTE Digital Communication program standards to allow learners to explore a range of processes and techniques in digital media. This course: develops an awareness of the world of digital media and design, develops learners’ creative processes and their ability to critically evaluate their work, encourages learners to combine innovative approaches and techniques to solve problems creatively, expands learners’ knowledge of digital media by exploring different designers, processes and concepts, prepares learners for further study and to work in a collaborative industry.
