Graphic Design Pathway 

The Graphic Design instructional program prepares students to use technical expertise, creativity, and esthetic principles to design and create visual concepts that meet specific commercial or promotional needs, as well as inspire, inform, and captivate consumers. Throughout the Graphic Design instructional program, students learn and practice valuable real-world skills using industry standard graphic design software to create professional-grade design projects.

The Graphic Design instructional program prepares students for entry-level employment, further training, and/or post-secondary education for these and other occupations: Advertising Associate, Art Director, Creative Director, Creative Services Director, Design Consultant, Desktop Publisher, Desktop Publishing Specialist, Digital Designer, Freelance Designer, Front End Developer, Graphic Artist, Graphic Designer, Graphics Specialist, Illustrator, Logo Designer, Marketing and Promotions Manager, Marketing Coordinator, Marketing Developer, Marketing Specialist, Multimedia Designer, Product Designer, Production Artist, Production Manager, Publication Designer, Social Media Specialist, User Experience Designer, Visual Designer, Web Designer, and Web Developer. Students develop leadership, social, civic, and career skills through participation in the state-recognized Career and Technical Student Organization, FBLA. 

Graphic Design 1 Students start with this introductory course that will combine several elements of traditional and commercial art. This visual arts course will serve as the foundation to pathways in graphic arts, traditional art and photography. Recognized industry software is utilized throughout the course. 
Graphic Design 2 Students will explore and understand the various digital media and technologies including technology’s historical evolution, current applications, and future possibilities. They will develop design concepts and projects for commercial and business environments as well as explore career possibilities. 
Advanced Graphic Arts Third year students will build on and refine their understanding of various digital media and technologies including technology’s historical evolution, current applications, and future possibilities. Students will develop design concepts and projects, which directly apply to commercial and business environments, such as, corporate identity packages, and sales and marketing materials. Design students will act as a business partners with the school clubs and organizations.
