INF 0119/0120: Graphic Arts 1 A/B

Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)

Students start with this introductory course that will combine several elements of traditional and commercial art along with photography. This visual arts course will serve as the foundation to pathways in graphic arts, traditional art and photography. Recognized industry software is utilized throughout the course. Owning your own digital camera is recommended. This is the first step to becoming a program completer.

INF 0121/0122: Graphic Arts 2 A/B

Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)

Students will explore and understand the various digital media and technologies including technology’s historical evolution, current applications, and future possibilities. They will develop design concepts and projects for commercial and business environments as well as explore career possibilities.

INF 0123/0124: Advanced Graphic Arts A/B

Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)

Second year students will build on and refine their understanding of various digital media and technologies including technology’s historical evolution, current applications, and future possibilities. Students will develop design concepts and projects, which directly apply to commercial and business environments, such as, corporate identity packages, and sales and marketing materials. Design students will act as a business partners with the school clubs and organizations.

MUS 0110A/B: Band Percussion A/B

Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)

This is the percussive, performing ensemble of Lee Williams High School. These instruments include drums, hand percussion and mallet-based instruments. The goal of this ensemble is to provide its students with the opportunity to develop and refine musicality and technical skills that will enable them to perform a wide variety of repertoire at a Grade Difficulty of 3 or higher. Students will focus on master in all areas including tone, intonation, balance, interpretation and theory. Performances are a mandatory part of the grade. If interested in joining without previously been in band, please meet with the director before adding this course to your schedule.

MUS 0120/0122: Concert Band A/B

Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)

This is the wind-based, performing ensemble of Lee Williams High School. These instruments include Brass and Woodwind instruments only (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tube and color winds). The goal of this ensemble is to provide its students with the opportunity to develop and refine musicality and technical skills that will enable them to perform a wide variety of repertoire at a Grade Difficulty of 3 or higher. Students will focus on master in all areas including tone, intonation, balance, interpretation and theory. Performances are a mandatory part of the grade. MUS 0150/0152: Choir Concert A/B

Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)

This is a year-long course that explores choral music from a wide variety of cultures and time periods through study and performance. This class is open to all students, regardless of previous singing experience. The core curriculum emphasizes the basics of vocal technique, sight reading, music theory, and music history. Students in Concert Choir are expected to participate in one evening concert each quarter as a major part of their grade.

MUS 0260: Music Appreciation

Credits 0.5 (Per Semester)
In this semester long course, students will engage in discussion and application of the basic fundamentals of culture and music in Western Civilization. This class will connect History, Science, Language and Literary Arts to create a more cohesive understanding of how, Jointly with music, culture progresses through time. Eras of study include: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern and Post-Modern.

MUS 0360: The Study of Rock Music

Credits 0.5 (Per Semester)
In this semester long course, students will engage in discussion and application of the basic fundamental history of rock and roll; and the genres that both influence its inception and evolve from it. Scope of study focuses from the 1800s-1990s in areas of music, history and culture.

MUSC 360/361: IGCSE Music

Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)

Cambridge IGCSE Music allows learners to develop their musical skills through listening, performing and composing. Learners study music from a diverse range of world cultures and from historical periods to the present day and have the flexibility to perform and compose in their chosen style.
