Business Management Pathway

The Business Management program prepares students to plan, organize, direct, and control organizational functions, providing a comprehensive understanding of business and financial management for both large and small enterprises.

Business Management students enhance leadership, social, civic, and career skills by participating in the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), a state-recognized Career and Technical Student Organization.

To be a Program Completer:

  • Students must complete Business Management 1 and 2.

DCE Business Management:

  • Must be a program completer.
  • This course employs the Diversified Cooperative Education (DCE) methodology, where one teacher oversees students across various program areas, integrating school-based and supervised work experiences that are aligned with business management program standards.

 

Business Management 1 This yearlong class equips students with vital business skills, including communication, ethics, and marketing, while also focusing on credit, wealth building, and insurance. Through hands-on experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, students will enhance their problem-solving abilities and professional presentation skills.
Business Management 2 This yearlong course offers comprehensive training in various business disciplines, including Human Resources, Workplace Communication, and Technology Management, while also preparing students for industry certifications. Designed for dedicated learners, it emphasizes skill development through online simulations, presentations, and participation in FBLA events.
Business Management 3: Advanced Marketing/Student Store The advanced business capstone class equips students with hands-on experience in managing the Dawg Pound, addressing key areas such as purchasing, pricing, and customer service. Through real-world simulations, it fosters skills in entrepreneurship and philanthropy while enhancing decision-making, financial analysis, and marketing abilities with digital training support.
CIS 131: Microsoft Office-Dual Credit This course covers essential skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, while also providing practical applications in real business scenarios, including integrating these tools to solve business problems.
CISJ 110: Computer Info Systems-Dual Credit This course introduces hardware, software, data structures, and information system analysis, focusing on historical and contemporary topics. It emphasizes database and spreadsheet applications for business problem-solving, offering 3 college credits at MCC for CIS110. This class is required for general education at all in-state universities.
Industry Certifications MS Office Specialist - Can be earned at any point in the sequence, NFR Retail Industry Fundamentals, and NFR Customer Service and Sales.
