This first-year course is an overview of the history and organization of local, state and federal law enforcement, including the practice and application of law and terminology of law enforcement. This course explains the elements of crime and criminal law, the goals of corrections, constitutional law, and public security. This course also includes segments of courtroom procedures, including a mock trial and discussion in the career fields of crime scene investigation, forensics and emergency communications. Leadership principles will be learned through a close association with the SkillsUSA Career and Technical Skills Organization (CTSO).
